Centralia needs your help!
On September 24, 2016 beginning at 9AM, a cleanup day will be held in the town to remove junk that has been illegally dumped there. Volunteers and funds are needed to assist with the cleanup effort. Lunch will be served to those who attend. Many thanks to Sexy Pig BBQ of Ashland, PA for offering to setup their grills and cook for the day.
EPCAMR (Eastern PA Coalition of Abandon Mine Reclamation) is spearheading the cleanup effort and fundraiser. $1000 is needed to make the cleanup day possible. Donate now and support this important effort in Centralia. We only need 100 people to donate $10 each in order to make this possible!
The proceeds of the fundraiser will be used to cover the cost of the dumpsters and service for hauling trash to the landfill. Funds will also be used to purchase heavy duty garbage bags, cleanup supplies and tools, hand sanitizer, first aid kits, refreshments, snacks, drinks, water, and food to feed the volunteers and EPCAMR staff in attendance.
Why does Centralia, PA need cleaned up? Each year some visitors to the town decide to leave their trash behind. While each incident may seem small, in aggregate this amounts to tons of garbage and trash being dumped in the area!
Previous cleanup days in Centralia have helped to remove old tires, household goods, furniture, plastics, bottles, cans, glass, vacuum cleaners, baby diapers, carpets, refrigerators, sinks, toilets, and other discarded waste products. Signs warning against the illegal dumping of trash have even been posted. Sadly, the litter continues to accumulate, which is why your support is so important.
Over the last two years, EPCAMR has built a coalition of partners including several of the remaining local residents, Tom Hynoski (Fire Chief of Centralia, Pennsylvania), regional college students, local high school students from North Schuylkill, Girl Scouts from Mount Carmel, the Aristes Fire Company, former Centralia residents, and volunteers who share a passion for cleaning up the borough of Centralia.

No need to signup. You should arrive at the Centralia Municipal Building at 9AM on the 24th! Hope you can make it š
I’ll be up there at 8am on Saturday. I know starts at 9 but I want to get an early jump on things. I will go through and pick up any litter, trash, etc. around the borough hall area.
